Thomas Harder

I’ve built furniture, structures, and functional objects for more than 40 years. I work both for clients and to follow my own curiosity. My process is rooted in traditional woodworking techniques and often informed by Japanese and Modernist design principles. Materials include new and reclaimed wood, metals, semi-precious stone, and marble—I explore the qualities and limits of all materials in relation to the stated goals of a project. Found objects, especially rusted and distressed metal, are central to my 2D collage artworks.
